VINEYARD
A sublime location
Château Roc de Calon’s vines extend across 23 hectares. They are located on the western flank of the Butte de Calon hill at the heart of the Montagne Saint-Emilion appellation. 75% is planted to Merlot, 22% to Cabernet Franc and 3% to Cabernet Sauvignon.
TERROIR
An indissoluble bond
The soil is essentially an ideal combination of calcareous clay, siliceous clay and sandy soil, perfect for Bordeaux grape varieties. Château Roc de Calon has joined forces with oenologist Stéphane Toutoundji, consultant oenologist to the estate since 2004 and an expert in Libournais wine.
WINEGROWING
Environmentally responsible techniques
Environmental issues are a central focus for the family. With the support of technical advisor Hervé Sanguina, the vineyard applies sustainable winegrowing techniques in order to preserve the balance of the ecosystem. Work on the estate is cyclical and aims to put the vines in the best possible condition for the harvest.
